American Legion Post 333 has been a continuing member of the Sun Prairie community for more than 85 years.  Our commitment to our veterans, their families and our community has never wavered.  We have given more than $1,100,000.00 back to the Sun Prairie community during our existence. The programs which our Post administers include:

Scholarships for graduating high school seniors to attend colleges, universities and technical schools around the country
Assistance to our veterans that were wounded during war or became disabled while serving on active duty.
Flags on Main Street
Donations to the Police Department for many programs including McGruff the Crime Dog.
Community Wide Blood Program. In over 21 years more than 8000 pints of blood have been collected - enough to save more than 32,000 lives.
Sponsorship of Sun Prairie High School Juniors to attend the American Legion Badger Boys State.
Sponsorship of the annual Children’s Christmas Party
Sponsorship of Sun Prairie’s American Legion Baseball Team
Sponsorship of Boy Scout Troop 333
We meet the 4th Monday of the Month at 7 p.m. at the Sun Prairie Utilities, 125 West Main Street, Sun Prairie, WI.

American Legion Post 333 is located in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. American Legion Posts are named after someone who died in the service of their country. Elmer C. Peterson was the first Sun Prairie area service member to die for his country and the Post’s charter members choose to name the post in his honor.

Our Post began in 1919 when Frank Reininger and a group of Sun Prairie veterans began holding meetings at City Hall with a push to obtain members. From this group, Dr. H. J. Barry initiated the forms to start a Legion in Sun Prairie. The first election of officers took place in April 1921.

The first officers were:
Commander - Dr. H. J. Barry
Vice Commander - Joseph Krebs
Adjutant - Kenneth E. Beers
Finance Officer - Rupert J. Batz
Historian - Glenn S. Beers

On 11 May 1921 Post 333 was granted its charter with 15 members.
